Stephon Phillip

I am Stephon Phillip, a steel pan player, teacher, arranger and band leader. I have over 30 years of experience in steel pans.
I have worked for the Birmingham Music Service since 1988 and I teach 14 schools, 2 area bands and a Central Ensemble.
I also run Phase One Steel Orchestra, one of the top steel bands in the country. I arrange the music for the band, which ranges from classical to calypso.
Apart from that I have played steel pans in the “mecca” of pan, Trinidad. Where I have played with Renegades Steel Band, which is one of the world’s best.
I have also had the pleasure of running steel pan workshops for Suzuki violinists at their residential at Dunfield House.
I now look forward to working with the cellists!
