Dr Jane Park (UK)
Dr Jane Park is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was a first-study violinist and has a Masters in Contemporary Music Studies from Goldsmiths College. She is also a fully-qualified Educational Psychologist (EP) having trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in London. Jane now balances her work as an EP with academic and research interests and freelance performing, primarily on viola.
At Cellofest Extra, Jane will present to us:
"Teaching students with special needs: what are the issues and how can we help?"
The philosophy 'every child can' underpins the Suzuki method. Equally, working with children with additional needs brings its own challenges and opportunities, as teachers strive to support each child to reach their full potential. This session will explore some of the presenting difficulties instrumental teachers may encounter when teaching students with special needs and will consider ways in which teachers might make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of their students more effectively.
