A parent must accompany children under 12 and are responsible for them at all times. They are also expected to attend their child’s classes. However, it’s not only about the children – parents can join in too! We offer group classes for parents who are beginner to intermediate cellists and there are opportunities for parents to try our percussion and singing classes. These are open to all and are a great way to try something new and have fun. The children's swim times are timetabled in the afternoons but we also have adult only swim sessions in the evenings and access to the fitness suite at various times. If you play any other instrument then be sure to bring it along – there are often people looking for others to play chamber music with in the free time and in the evenings. In each boarding house there is a central common room and kitchen where parents can meet in the evenings for a glass of wine and a chat.
Stewards are on hand to help you with anything you need and supervise games for the children. Last year we facilitated a baby-sitting exchange service between parents and we intend to build on this idea for the future. With advance notice and for an additional fee we can accommodate other family members who wish to stay over on the last night to watch the concerts. All parents (whether staying with us or not) are invited to the final concert day where the students present the results of their hard work and wow us with their stunning performances.
